Stetson Salutes Contest

July 3, 2009

stetsonA Celebration of Those Who Serve

This week’s resource is Stetson. We we approached by their public relations firm, last week, asking us if we would help get the word out about their latest contest.

After reviewing what they are doing, we loved it and are glad to jump on board and help !

Stetson, one of America’s oldest and most iconic brands will be launching Stetson Salutes on June 22nd, a national contest that will celebrate the brand’s rich history with the military.

Participants will be asked to tell a story with a photo or video of how a specific Stetson hat has been an important part of their or a loved one’s life.

In recognition of the strong ties between Stetson and the military, those eligible to participate must have themselves or have a friend or family member who has served or is serving in the military. Three winners will be selected and rewarded with a Stetson hat named after them that will be incorporated into the 2010 line.

“Stetson feels very grateful and fortunate to have such a special place in the hearts of those who serve in the US Military,” says Pam Fields, Chief Executive Officer of Stetson. “We very much look forward to honoring these servicemen and servicewomen with Stetson Salutes and know their moving and genuine stories will touch the lives of many.”

To further build upon Stetson’s commitment to the military, $1 will be donated to the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) for every entry received. The ASYMCA plays an integral role in offering support services to military service members and their families.

“Like serving in the military, Stetson is an American tradition,” said ASYMCA National Executive Director Frank Gallo, Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy (Ret).  “The Armed Services YMCA is extremely excited to join in this partnership.  We are pleased that Stetson’s contributions will allow us to continue to provide critical services to military families.”

What Does a 5k and Your Business Have in Common?

I bet you thought I meant $5,000 when I said 5k. Sorry if you’re disappointed but hear me out. Years ago, when I took up running and was training for my very first race, it was a 5k, which is just a little over 3 miles. Did I go out on my very first day and run 3.1 miles? Not even close. I had to start off slowly and in baby steps. I know... [...More]

Why does that happen and what does that have to do with business?  It happens... [...More]
